What Is Intrapreneurship?
Enabling change, innovation and solutions.
In·tra·pre·neur·ship (n) 1) Successful adaptation of entrepreneurial attitudes and strategies inside of a bureaucratic organisation. 2) Implementation of start-up practices within a large organisation, producing valued innovation.
Intrapreneurship is revolutionising the way many organisations do business and is already a feature of leading companies as Gore, Google and 3M.
Indeed, it is something we want to bring to mission-driven organisations. The status quo for many organisations is not sustainable, with many challenges ahead, including prolonged pressure on income levels. The Lens believes that developing the skills, mind-set and culture that promotes innovation and engages the workforce in service design will be a feature of those who flourish in the future and that is what we want to encourage in your organisation.
The Lens supports mission-driven organisations to develop intrapreneurship and is distinct from support already in place for social enterprises. The Lens itself is an innovation - designed to capture learning, its delivery methods will adapt over time.
“Intrapreneurs can transform an organization more quickly and effectively than others because they are self motivated freethinkers, masters at navigating around bureaucratic and political inertia.”
